Description: The 10th Canadian Field Hospital (10 CFH) and the 3rd Canadian Contingent departed Canada for South Africa in January 1902. The hospital was based on British practice with Canadian innovations and most of its members were veterans of previous tours in South Africa.

Description: Following some negotiations, on February 8, 1900, the Laurier government announced the replacement of the British regiment in Halifax with a Canadian unit. Thus was born the 3rd (Special Service) Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment of Infantry (3 RCRI) that took up its duties in South Africa on 25 March 1900 .

Description: On 10 January 1900, Lord Strathcona offered to raise a regiment at his own expense for service in the British Army in South Africa. The unit was recruited entirely in the Canadian West. It was equipped by the Canadian government and quartered in Lansdowne Park, Ottawa.
