Royal Canadian Air Force (Women’s Division)

Raised as the Canadian Women’s Auxiliary Air Force on 2 July 1941, it has the distinction of being the first women’s military service unit to be authorized in North America. It was renamed as the Royal Canadian Air Force (Women’s Division) on 3 February 1942.

Royal Canadian Armoured Corps (RCAC)

Authorized as Canadian Armoured Corps on August 13, 1940. Received its Royal title in August 1945. This corps was an administrative unit providing reinforcements to armour regiments in the field.

Royal Canadian Army Chaplains Corps (RCACC)

Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps (RCAMC)

Authorized on July 2, 1904 as the Army Medical Corps. Received its Royal title in 1919. Previous to the creation of the RCAMC, a small medical and surgical unit was formed in April 1885 and served during the Riel Rebellion. In 1898, several nurses from the Victorian Order of Nurses accompanied the Yukon Field Force. A Canadian Army Medical Department was formed in June 1899 and served with the Canadian contingent in South Africa until 1902.

Royal Canadian Army Pay Corps (RCAPC)

Authorized on January 1, 1907 as the Canadian Army Pay Corps. Received its Royal title from 1920.
