Officer

Short for Commissioned Officer. A serviceman who has received the King's (or Queen's) or Viceroy's (or Governor General’s) Commission.

Other Ranks (OR)

Soldiers other than those of commissioned rank, though sometimes used to refer only to those below sergeant.
