Parks Canada has provided a virtual doorway to explore Canada's national historic military sites. Online tours enable the user to travel to the sites of famous battles or view a famous building. Both virtual and text tours are available. The Central Emergency Government Headquarters was intended to be a relocation centre for government leaders, civil servants, and military personnel in the event of a nuclear war. The media dubbed it 'the Diefenbunker' after John Diefenbaker, the Prime Minister at the time. A virtual tour of the exterior view of the compound is provided.
