Uniform of the Royal Montreal Cavalry, between 1832 and 1850

Caption: Uniform of the Royal Montreal Cavalry, between 1832 and 1850

The Royal Montreal Cavalry were dressed in the same style as British army light dragoons. The uniform was blue faced with scarlet and trimmed with gold buttons and lace. The unit was recruited from the Anglophone middle class of Montreal, and was something of a military version of the Montreal Hunt Club. It would have worn this uniform during the Rebellion of 1837.
